Just one month ago (almost exactly) companies were feverishly setting up their new Google+ brand pages. The reason Twitter has announced this latest initiative is a no brainer—company brand pages work. Consumers are comfortable navigating their way around social networking sites, so it’s important that a company has a presence on each and every one. While Twitter and LinkedIn work well together, Facebook and Google+ serve as serious competition. Although the popularity of Twitter leaves people to believe it will always be relevant, it is important that MySpace once looked the same. For this reason, Twitter had to enter the brand pages competition.
Whether you’re starting a small business or working to improve your already established business, creating a Twitter brand page is a great idea. Consider some of the features and reasons this new announcement should have you jumping for joy:
Why Twitter Brand Pages Are Worth Your While
1. Large Header Images – This will allow companies to display their logo and/or tagline in a way that will jump out to visitors. The “old” or “regular” Twitter pages looked just like every other personal account, which made them nothing special; however the new brand pages will make a statement.
2. Selected Tweets – Brand pages allow companies to select a specific tweet and keep it at the top of their time line. This is also known as a “feature tweet.” The feature tweet is great because it allows companies to draw attention to a specific promotion, business proposal, or message that they want readers to really take to heart. These tweets will last longer (as long as a company wishes), which will help a tweet last much longer than it used to in the eyes and minds of readers.
3. Auto-Expand Feature – These featured tweets also have the ability to expand into a video or larger message. Users will therefore be more likely to see the full campaign because there is no effort need on their part (clicking a link, following instructions, etc.).
4. Separate @replies – This will help to develop the engagement with customers of a brand. While the old Twitter lumped @replies and @mentions altogether, the new Twitter will separate the two on brand pages. This will allow companies so discover who is really interested in a company and who is just talking about it.
5. Totally Free – You won’t need to take out small business loans to reap the benefits of the new brand pages. These new brand pages are completely free to setup. This is no surprise considering Google+ and Facebook are free of charge, but nonetheless this is important for small businesses on a budget. In other words, the return will be great.
Now that Twitter brand pages have entered the scene, it is important you have someone to manage the account. Social media is becoming bigger and bigger each day, and it is therefore becoming more and more important for companies to manage their accounts successfully. Be sure that you are keeping up with answering your tweets, modifying your company tweets, and connecting with those also involved in the network.Follow our Blog’s Twitter account for more updates and news.
