A topic that has been debated of late is the benefit that links and link building brings to website. Back when SEO started, all you had to do was throw some keywords onto your site and churn out dozens of links and you were on your way. These days, SEO and online marketing is a lot more sophisticated, and a lot more work is required to achieve good results for a website. The type of links pointing back to your site now has a greater effect on how Google ranks your site.
Submissions to paid directories
These are the easiest type of links to acquire, as all you do is visit strong directories, pay an amount to the site, and within 1-5 days (if not sooner), you have a link to your site on the directory. These are generally found by seeing where your competitors are listed, and were a generally good way of obtaining decent quality links back to your site. However, Google doesn’t give much benefit to these links anymore, due to the fact they are easy to obtain and say nothing about the quality of the site the directory is linking back to.
Free directories
Like anything that is free, these kinds of directories attract a good deal of attention. However, they also have a high volume of requests, and it can take anything between one month, to six months or more to get your site listed here, if it ever appears. This would be a type of link to avoid, as very few of these yield desirable results.
Qualified and authoritative links
These are links that are from trusted sites, that are reliable and don’t resort to underhanded tactics to promote themselves. As an example, this can include Government sites, educational websites, or those that are a governing body or authority for a particular industry. A link back to your site from one of these sites shows to Google that your site is trusted and is genuine, which will help with a higher page ranking in Google.
Articles and blog posts
These are perhaps the best way to build authority for your site. It’s content-based, which means that it’s taken time to put together and add, and demonstrates benefit to the site. Content is now becoming more important where SEO is concerned, as well written content can boost your site’s ranking in Google more than masses of paid or free links can.

Organized content is the best way to display or post an article, thank you for making it easy to digest your post.
Yes obviously it is beneficial for any website. You deny or ignore the importance and benefits of linking.
