Ever since Facebook announced plans for a Facebook Timeline this last September, people spent their time figuring out how to cheat the system and how to get the new timeline as fast as possible. Well, the cheating is over. Facebook Timeline is finally available to everyone, everywhere.(Read-More posts from category Facebook in new tab)
For those who are unfamiliar, the Facebook Timeline is a new way to view an individual’s profile pages. The timeline is much more visual and interesting than the previous layout, which simply has a block of text listing a person’s interests and education information. The layout is wider and uses new features called a cover and an activity log. The new features work like this:
- Cover – Your cover is a large photo of you that exists at the top of the timeline. You can choose which photo you want to use, so it’s much like a profile picture used by the old layout.
- Activity Log – An activity log is where you decide what is shown on your timeline. You can feature a specific status, star your favorite pictures or hide parts of your “Facebook life” that you don’t want anyone to see.(Screenshot below)

The new layout is certainly something that a person will have to get used to seeing. It’s almost like a new business proposal coming from a site you love. You will see everything you ever did on Facebook as they happened in time. Before jumping into the new layout, check out the video Facebook put out for those wanting to learn more:
If you think the new timeline looks like fun but you’re nervous about using it, don’t sweat it. When you start your timeline you will have seven days to review everything before it gets out to all of your Facebook friends, family, and those employers doing a little background check. If you want to publish it during this time you can, but it usually takes a few days for a person to get used to the new setup. After seven days the timeline will take over your profile page, but all of your comments and pictures will still be in tact—they will just be seen in a different fashion.
To start using the new timeline, visit this Facebook Page and click on the green “Get Timeline” button on the bottom right.
